Teens

Program Description

Teens & Abuse

One in Three. One in three teenagers report knowing a friend or peer who has been hit, punched, kicked, choked or physically hurt by their partner. Like millions of adults, teens are often the victim of dating violence.

Add to that the more than ten million children who grow up in homes in which there is violence, and the 900,000 children who are abused or neglected, and you have a huge number of young people in this country whose lives are affected ─ sometimes shaped ─ by violence.

The Family Violence Prevention Fund is doing innovative work to address the nation’s epidemic of dating violence. Through work with coaches, teachers, and parents, and public service campaigns aimed at youth, the FVPF helps to keep teens safe and stop violence before it ever begins.
